Decent Homes and the 2009 -10 Major Repairs Programme
You may have heard of the Decent Homes Standard. It is a government led initiative that says all homes owned by landlords like Magna have to be brought up to this standard by 2010.
Magna has made good progress towards meeting this standard, completing major refurbishments and upgrades to over 1,650 heating and electical systems, kitchens and bathrooms, as well as external doors, windows and roofs.
As of May this year, there were 965 homes failing the Decent Homes Standard. We have adjusted our programme of major repairs to make sure that all of those 965 homes are improved this year and that we meet the 2010 target. This means that we are bringing forward works to homes that are currently failing the standard, whilst postponing works to other homes that are not actually failing the standard. For example, we have increased kitchen and bathroom work, but reduced windows and doors.
The 2009-10 major repairs and improvement programme is being updated and will be released shortly.
