Benchmarking
It is important to us that we are providing a quality service to our residents. We use many different methods to monitor our performance to ensure we are meeting our standards and are providing a service that our residents are happy with. One of the tools we use to measure ourselves is ‘benchmarking’.
Benchmarking involves comparing our performance and costs with those of similar sized housing organisations. Benchmarking against other housing organisations helps us to ensure that we are providing the same standard of service as our peers, if not better. It also provides us with the opportunity to work with other housing associations to share ideas and best practice to ultimately improve our service to you.
We are members of HouseMark. HouseMark is a national membership-based organisation which aims to help the social housing sector improve performance and achieve value for money. HouseMark is owned jointly by the Chartered Institute of Housing and the National Housing Federation, two not-for-profit organisations dedicated to improving housing standards.
Set out below is a ‘dashboard’, put together by HouseMark. It provides at-a-glance comparative information on our costs and performance in 8 key service areas. Our dashboard contains actual cost and performance information benchmarked with other housing providers. You can use the dashboard to compare us with the whole of the UK; our ‘peer group’ (other organisations like us in the southern region); or with our area (other organisations in the south west).
The data used in the dashboard is supplied by us every year as part of our ‘core benchmarking submission’ to HouseMark. It is then rigorously validated by HouseMark before being made available in the dashboard.
Over 400 landlords participate in HouseMark benchmarking, usually submitting data between June and November each year. Benchmark information shows for the most recent year of validated data. No data in the dashboard is more than two years old.
As well as the dashboard, you can download the full reports from HouseMark for the last 3 years by using the links from the left hand side of this page.
