Love's "young" dream

Molly gets her man!

You're never too old to fall in love, just ask Molly Tuck and Colin Benjifield.

At a combined age of 129, the romantic couple rolled back the years by tying the knot in Dorchester.

When Molly, 78, met Colin in the summer, she knew she was on to a winner and after a whirlwind courtship, she was quick to pop the question.

Her 61-year-old groom gladly accepted and the two are now beginning a new and exciting chapter in their lives.

Molly, who lives at Magna’s Acland Court sheltered housing scheme, explained: “I first met Colin a few years back. He ran a discount store on High East Street and I used to pop in with my late husband.

“We then met up again in the summer. He used to walk past Acland Court and we got chatting and then one rainy afternoon we sort of realised there was something special between us.

“We knew we were right for each other and so I asked him to marry me.”

She added: “Fortunately he said yes and I couldn’t be any happier. We love each other and we are really happy. If you have that in your lives, then nothing else matters.”

The pair married at Dorchester registry office before holding a reception, attended by family and friends, at the Acland Court communal hall, including Molly’s children, grand children and great grand children.

And after proudly cutting the cake together, Colin revealed who’ll be wearing the trousers in this relationship.

“Definitely Molly,” he smiled. “She’s the boss! We’ll be living at her flat and she’s already given me a list of things she wants doing around the place!

“But seriously, we’re so happy and the fact we’ve found each other late in life is a bonus. If two people are happy then what does it matter? My advice would be 'go ahead, get married'.”

Meanwhile Molly thanked her many well-wishers and unveiled plans for the honeymoon.

She said: “We’ve had a lovely day and I’d like to say a big thank you to all our family and friends for their support and kind wishes. Also a big thank you to Lin Fox, Acland’s sheltered housing officer, who has been so kind and who did all the food for the reception.

“We won’t be jetting off for a honeymoon in the sun but we’ll be having a honeymoon of sorts. We’re going to go on a few day trips and we’re really looking forward to it.”
