Magna carries on smiling through the rain

Even the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Dorchester residents who turned out in force for Magna’s Family Fun Day in Victoria Park this week.
Magna’s Fun Day has become an annual event, which gets residents together in a fun informal way, and gathers their views on the work Magna is doing. There were representatives from the repairs division as well as housing officers on hand to answer any queries and to sort out any outstanding problems.
As usual there was also plenty to keep the children occupied, from magic tricks to woodworking. Some of the children even managed an impromtu sack race!
Gwen Webber, who lives in Dorchester, commented, “My boys, Richard and Graham, really enjoyed it. One of them even built a gate at the stall where they could do woodwork. I missed it last year because I was working, but I’m pleased I was able to come this year. I only live over the road and my eldest even helped to set the event up.”
Not only did residents attend the day, they were also essential in organising the day and publicising it. Bryan Cole, who was one of the team who helped to organise the event, said, “We are always keen to find different ways for residents to speak to people at Magna about all sorts of things and this event really did the trick. It was a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun as well and really worthwhile. Enola and I would like to thank everyone who turned out, despite the weather, and who made it such a well-organised event.”
Marianne Fendle, resident involvement manager, said, “We believe it is very important to involve our residents in planning the services we offer them. The fun day is just one of the ways residents can comment on what we do. We are always interested to hear from residents and have many different ways they can help to shape and improve the services Magna provides. They can contact me or one of the team at any time by calling 01305 216079.”
Lisa Williams, who organised the event on behalf of Magna, said, “I’d like to thank everyone who gave up their time to make this event such a success, particularly the residents who helped. It really was a team effort and we couldn’t have done it without them.”
