Kitchen boost for villagers

Things are cooking in Maiden Newton thanks to Magna
The Dorchester-based organisation donated £3,000 to the parish council, which has been used to fit a new kitchen at the village hall.
The money came from Magna’s Community Initiative Fund (Northern Area), which supports community projects throughout the area.
And the new facility, along with disabled access ramps, means more villagers than ever can now use the hall.
Village Hall Committee vice-chairman, Kevin Mullen, said: “We are so pleased with the new kitchen and we’d like to thank everyone who helped in the project. But our biggest thanks goes to Magna, without whom, none of this would have been possible.
“Having a new kitchen means so much, to so many. It now means more people than ever can use the facilities, from the very young to the old.
“Preparing meals and refreshments is now a real pleasure and the hall has been further enhanced by new disabled ramps that were also paid for by Magna.”
The completion of the kitchen was celebrated with an open evening, attended by guests, including Magna Northern Area tenants’ panel representatives.
Magna customer development officer, Ken Bodycombe, said: “We are delighted to support Maiden Newton Village Hall Committee and we hope villagers enjoy their new facilities.
“The Community Initiative Fund was set up to assist initiatives that are of benefit to the whole community and this is exactly the sort of project it was designed for.”
