New Affordable Homes for Bridport
4/27/2010
People living in Bridport will have another exciting chance to buy their own home at an affordable rate from the end of this year.
17 properties will be made available for shared ownership at the Flaxhayes site, to be called Dibdin View, later this year. Priority will given to people with local connections to the Bridport area.
Neil Allsopp, project manager for Charter SW Ltd, said, “We expect there to be a lot of interest in these properties as there are very few affordable homes to buy in the Bridport area. We will be holding an open day in May to show the type of homes that will become available later in the year.”
The properties will be completed over the next year with the bulk of the shared ownership properties being completed towards the end of this year. Potential shared ownership buyers are likely to acquire in the region of a 40% share of the market value of the property.
The shared ownership housing types are a mix of two and three bedroom houses. All properties will be built to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, which ensures that homes are built to be energy efficient and with sustainability in mind.
Neil added, “We are inviting local solicitors and independent financial advisors who have experience of shared ownership mortgages to join us at the open day. In addition, West Dorset District Council will have representatives available for those who might be more interested in the 37 social rented properties that will be available on the development.”
