Thorncombe resident Mrs Hawker, 76, was delighted to receive a call from Magna Housing Association (MHA) advising her of a lucky win recently.  Selected at random for completing the housing association’s ‘help us to help you’ questionnaire, Mrs Hawker now stands to receive a £500 cheque.
Mrs Hawker said, “I am absolutely flabbergasted! I can’t believe it.  I am going on a holiday to see my sister in Folkestone and it will help me to pay for the trip.”  Mrs Hawker’s granddaughter is also getting married this year and she plans to use some of the money to buy a new hat.  “I am glad none of my family are here or they would want me to share it!” continued Mrs Hawker.
Magna sent out the questionnaire to all its residents with the prize money as an incentive to encourage residents to complete and return the form. The data collected will help the housing association to build up an accurate resident profile, thus enabling services to be shaped more specifically to satisfy residents’ needs.
Sally Huggins, equality and diversity policy officer for Magna, said, “The information we gathered from this exercise helps us really understand and tailor our services to meet the needs of our residents.”
